We saw Natalie Portman come out again -- this time to introduce Johannesburg, South Africa's own Dave Matthews and his band (the Dave Matthews Band). Okay, when he was two he moved to Westchester County, NY, where I live, but that's not the point we're making here today. When Natalie left the stage, there was about a ten minute delay before the band came out on stage. Then they spent another ten minutes pacing, tuning their instruments and maybe trying to decide which song they would open with...
Introducing Dave Matthews

(Page 1)2. I think it is right outside the city. Let us remember that the band was formed in Charlottesville VA.

4. Dave Matthews, his band, and thier Bama Works Foundation have done more for charity than most of these other artists. And who can blame them for wanting to sound good! If your not a fan than that's one thing, but perspective folks.

5. Right on Donny! I agree.
Not to mention they just performed a show at SPAC (Saratoga Springs, NY) last night and then drove down to perform Live8, and then turned right around for another show tonight at SPAC! Talk about dedication and commitment! I think a 10 minute delay is OK...

6. Cry me a river!!! - did you say Dave drove -
or his bus driver? - In the tour bus that has more amenities than my house. There was no point for their delay - no other artist had an issue with time constraints. - I'd have to say DMB have gotten a little high on themselves, and the continuing failure of album sales, and lack of tour sellouts hopefully will knock them down a notch. And this coming from a 1st year WH member - been to over 127 shows.

7. So because you are a big fan, you are allowed to rip him? I have 178 shows under the belt, including Trax and the Floodzone on Wednesday and Thursday nights for almost two years. Dave and the DMB are not high on themselves. If they were then why would they perform in special events like this at all? Or have a charitable foundation?
And there were delays with some other artists too. Remember there were over 150 artists, nine concerts all on the same day. BTW the new album Stand Up debuted at number one, and is still in the top 20, 7 weeks after it was released. They have two singles on the radio. Their last three albums debuted at number 1.
He has released a solo album that also debuted very high. He plays bonnoroo, the jazz fest, Neil Young's benefit. They rank no 10 on pollstar's touring list after only three other live8 bands; green day, coldplay, and U2. Only U2 have grossed more.
True they may not sell out as many shows as they used to, but this band has been around for almost fifteen years now. And they are still churning out good music. How many of the original Live Aid bands can say that? How many of the musicians we saw a couple of days ago will still be jamming 20 years from now?

8. BSlip - Yea, I think that's what I meant. That he literally drove himself... Come on now.My point was (bcuz clearly you missed it, and the context of my comment) is that at least they are dedicated and committed to be able to do their tour and continue to raise money. And they have raised alot of money. Period. Do you got that? Because I seriously think that's why they were there, not only to perform and sound good but really, to raise money.
As for the album sales going down, who cares about that... if you're a fan, then you're a fan and support them. I mean really now. If you don't like something, then shut up. Seriously. Them being all high up on themselves, are you kidding me... for 10 minutes. I think thats what they were thinking, lets just take our time and piss off our fans. How about you cry me a river, ass. No one cares how many shows you been to. Are you sure you're not the pretentious one?
