Free Live 8 Passes for bloggers!

Dave Sifry has the details on how bloggers can get free Live 8 backstage press passes. It's all going down courtesy of one.org, and the idea is to flood the blogosphere with content on and about Live 8 and its motivating issues. As Dave writes, "the fact is that there are 30,000 children dying in Africa every day - no one is reporting on it, and we aren't doing anything about it. So one of the goals is to help set the agenda of the mainstream media, and this represents a moment of pregnant possibility - for bloggers to create proactive change, not just reactive change based on other news events." Say it with me now: "that's hot."

What's the Deal with Live 8?

I know what you're thinking - what is this Live 8 thing, anyway? It's eight concerts in eight cities in one weekend, designed to shine a light on world poverty before the G8 summit on July 6th. We're going to be blogging from the Philadelphia concert; other cities hosting Live 8 events include London, Paris, Berlin, Edinburgh and Rome, Tokyo and Johannesburg. Here are some vital stats on the Philadelphia show -  for more info, this is a great Technorati link.

Pour Some Sugar on Me

So tomorrow morning, I'm packing up the Powerbook and heading down to Philly for Live 8. I never thought I'd be typing this, but here it is: I'll be backstage at a Def Leppard show. I'm totally staying up all night and watching as much VH1 Classic as possible to prepare.
